Next Reading Assignment

After a grand exploration of Islam, we return to Europe for Chapter 9, "Enlightenment." Armstrong writes of the Modern Period: "The achievements of the newly industrialized and efficient West also changed the course of world history." (p.293)

We will explore these changes at our next meeting on August 6th. August 6th is also the Feast of the Transfiguration. Is this a gentle comment from God on our Western ideas of enlightenment?
